The Baltimore Ravens have many talented players at the wide receiver position who will be called upon to step up in a big way. Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, James Proche II and Tylan Wallace will have increased opportunities to produce, especially after the team traded former No. 1 wideout Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals.
Duvernay spoke to the media following one of Baltimore’s mandatory minicamp practices, and he was asked about his views on the trade of Brown as well as what kind of an opportunity it presents. The former Texas star said that he hates to see his good friend go, but he’s excited for the opportunity and excited for the future.
“[He’s] a good friend of mine. Of course [I] hate to see him go, but we have an opportunity in front of us and we’re all excited about it and excited for the future. [I] can’t wait to see how the season goes.”
With Brown now out of the picture and no veteran wideout option added at this point, Duvernay now moves up to the No. 2 wide receiver on the team, only behind Rashod Bateman. With his speed, athleticism and hands, the third-year pro has all of the tools to make a big impact with increased opportunities.
Duvernay made waves as a punt returner in 2021, earning Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro honors. He has caught 53 passes for 473 yards and two touchdowns over the course of his two-year NFL career, and his new role should allow him to add big numbers to those totals in 2022.
