REPORT: Eagles Reveals Price for Legendary Talent – 3 Logical Fits

April 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

future pick dallas goedert

It’s been a quiet offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles, but they reveal that it will take at least a future round pick for tight end Dallas Goedert, as this story continues to develop. The Super Bowl champions haven’t made any moves this free agency other than extending contracts, but there’s just one player who’s looking outside of the team’s future plans. Goedert was still a viable option for Jalen Hurts’ passing game, so it’s hard to imagine the Eagles would be moving on either way. However, since he’s entering the final year of his contract and has dealt with numerous injuries, it seems sensible that the Eagles would move where he would have a cap hit of $11.7 million in 2025.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, it’s hard to imagine any team in the league would trade for someone like Goedert. If he didn’t have a strong history of injuries, there could have been some type of interest out there, but this isn’t the case for the offseason. The veteran tight end might become a free agent to sign wherever he desires, at least on a one-year deal to prove he can stay healthy. It won’t be easy for the Eagles to let go of their talent, but they’ve already been doing so, releasing Darius Slay and letting Milton Williams, Josh Sweat and Mekhi Becton walk in free agency.

It’s a tough situation for the Eagles, but something must be done since they have a lot of financial commitments, like running back Saquon Barkley and linebacker Zach Baun.

Potential Destinations

Los Angeles Chargers

Head Coach Jim Harbaugh must put quarterback Justin Herbert in the best position to win football games. Harbaugh did admit a few months ago that he did Herbet a disservice, so it’s time for them to get some capable pass catchers to help open the aerial attack for Herbert. While they did sign tight end Tyler Conklin, the team has failed to get a reliable wide receiver to help 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey. Veteran Mike Williams is past his prime, and there’s no way the Chargers can depend on him anymore, as he’s aging.

With the Conklin signing, it could mean the days for tight end Will Dissly could be numbered. If the Chargers trade for Goedert, they would get not only a reliable pass catcher, but an elusive blocker for Harbaugh’s ground game he wants to establish.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints don’t necessarily need a new tight end, but considering the future of this offense, it doesn’t look promising. With Derek Carr’s injury, the Saints are back to square one. While Juwan Johnson shows a lot of upside, it’s not enough for New Orleans to push them for a postseason appearance. The Saints could trade for Goedert even though eventually Mickey Loomis will have to completely rebuild this team, and if they don’t believe in that, they could bring in the veteran to boost their chances for at least a wild card.

Baltimore Ravens

Just like the Eagles, the Baltimore Ravens are also trying to move on from their veteran tight end. Since losing his job to Isaiah Likely, Mark Andrews will likely be in a uniform this upcoming offseason. If the Eagles and Ravens are that desperate to move on, they could negotiate a deal to swap Goedert and Andrews.
