Report: Rams Pro Bowler Named “Best” Trade Asset – Ravens, Chargers Could Be Highest Bidders

May 26, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

While he may stay with the team, the Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams is named the best trade asset heading into the 2025 regular season. According to a report, they believe there’s a chance that the Rams could trade the running back despite having consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons. During the NFL Draft, the team traded back in the first round, which had many fans scratching their heads, but it shows the Rams are not afraid of playing the “long game.” With that, this could include Williams, who will garner a lot of draft return if the Rams make him available for a trade.

If the team endures a losing season this upcoming season, it becomes more ideal for the Rams to trade Williams. They weren’t afraid of releasing long-term fan favorite Cooper Kupp despite performing better than most wide receivers the past few seasons. Quarterback Matthew Stafford might be coming back, but it doesn’t mean he’ll be the long-term starter for this organization, and since head coach Sean McVay will soon start this team from scratch, this also might mean moving on from Williams. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Notre Dame product feels “good” about the contract negotiations with the Rams, but it doesn’t guarantee a long-term contract to his liking.

Many deals don’t turn out like most athletes are expecting, and if that happens, these teams should take advantage to snatch Williams off the Rams.

Backing up Derrick Henry

The Baltimore Ravens have one of the league’s best offenses, but head coach John Harbaugh should take this team to a whole other level. While Lamar Jackson is improving each season, it’s best to get all of the talent to finally push for a Super Bowl, since they’re always an inch closer. Derrick Henry signed a new two-year contract, but he’s aging, and the Ravens must probably consider getting another running back to solidify their unit. There’s confidence around Keaton Mitchell for this upcoming season after missing most of the 2024 campaign.

He couldn’t live up to expectations, and they’re hoping he can have a huge turnaround, but the chances of that happening are slim. Obviously, Justice Hill is the backup for the team, but the Ravens must remember he has a small body and can only be useful in screen situations. Williams is more than capable of getting the team back in the Super Bowl conversations, and since he’s young, he might be the one to take over when Henry eventually retires.

Harbaugh’s Trenches

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers had one of the worst running back units last season with J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. Strangely, they put Dobbins on a tender, so they could be bringing him back on a one-year deal at minimum despite his unproductive season. Edwards isn’t returning, and they have two solid starters in Najee Harris and 2025 draft pick Omarion Hampton. Harris will most likely start, but since they’ve got Hampton, he may win the job, and Harris will likely join a new team next season.

With that, Williams should join the Chargers no matter the situation to supplement quarterback Justin Herbert with a powerhouse running game.
