Jacoby Jones, Ravens Postseason Hero, Dead at 40

Jacoby Jones was a third-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and spent his nine-year professional career with the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and San Diego Chargers. While he had multiple homes throughout his NFL career, he’s best known for his time with the Baltimore Ravens. Earning Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors in 2012, the Lane product finished the regular season with 30 receptions for 406 yards and one touchdown while adding a league-best two kick return touchdowns in the regular season.

The wide receiver also played a crucial role in Baltimore’s four-game run to the Super Bowl. Overall, Jacoby Jones recorded five receptions for 147 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-tying score against the Denver Broncos on Joe Flacco’s famous Hail Mary. Additionally, he added a kick return touchdown in the Super Bowl, contributing 14 points to Baltimore’s 34-31 victory.

Jacoby Jones originally entered the league with the Houston Texans. Spending five seasons with the team, the wide receiver recorded a combined 127 receptions for 1,741 yards and 11 touchdowns while also serving as the team’s primary returner. In 2011, he helped the team earn their first playoff win in franchise history. After his three-year stint with the Ravens, Jones spent the 2014 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers but did not record a single target. He did, however, return a combined 18 kicks for 413 yards.

Jacoby Jones just turned 40 on July 11th and remained involved in football. The former wideout was scheduled to be the first offensive coordinator for the Beaumont Renegades, an America Indoor Football team set to kick off in the 2025 spring season.
