Lamar Jackson’s situation with the Ravens is complicated to say the least. Earlier this week, he announced on Twitter that he requested a trade from Baltimore on March 2.
The Ravens don’t seem eager to grant Jackson’s wish. They also aren’t ready to meet his contract demands.
With all that said, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk appeared on The Pat McAfee Show this Wednesday to discuss Jackson’s contract situation.
Florio believes there’s a real possibility Jackson sits out the 2023 season if he can’t agree to a long-term deal with the Ravens.
“I really do think it’s going to come down to him and the Ravens,” Florio said. “Can they work something out before the middle of July on a long-term deal? If they can’t, will he play for $32.4 million in 2023? I wouldn’t. I would want more than $32.4 million if I’m Lamar Jackson.
“I think we have to take seriously the possibility that he won’t show up this year unless they offer him more money than he’s due to make.”

The Ravens have until July 17 to work out a long-term contract with Jackson.
Jackson could negotiate a contract with other teams right now. However, his market has been dormant so far.
