Richard Sherman Says He Wouldn’t Vote For Lamar Jackson For MVP

Lamar Jackson’s 321 passing yards and five touchdowns in Sunday’s 56-19 win over the Miami Dolphins likely locked up the 2023 NFL MVP Award for the Baltimore Ravens quarterback.

However, while Amazon Prime and FOX Sports analyst Richard Sherman acknowledged it was a “fantastic performance” by the 2019 league MVP, he still wouldn’t cast an MVP ballot for Jackson.

“When you look at the full picture, I just don’t see it,” Sherman said on UNDISPUTED Monday. “People argue with me and say ‘You’re just hating.’ I’m just laying out the facts of the matter.”

Sherman argued that because Jackson’s overall statistics, particularly his 24 touchdowns against seven interceptions, are not on par with his prior MVP season, when he threw 36 TDs and only six picks, he’s not as worthy of winning the award.

Keep in mind, while Jackson’s rushing stats are down slightly from 2019 as well, he already has thrown for over 500 more yards this year.

Despite Lamar Jackson’s 5 TD performance, it has not changed @RSherman_25‘s MVP vote:

Sherman did go on to say he thinks there’s a good chance Jackson wins MVP anyway, though he wondered if he could split the honor with Christian McCaffrey or Tyreek Hill.

That seems unlikely. Sherman is entitled to his opinion, but we’d expect Lamar to be lifting the hardware next month when the award is announced.
