With the No. 59 overall pick, the Baltimore Ravens select EDGE Mike Green. Below are the reactions from the contributors of Baltimore Beatdown.
Strictly football, this is a brilliant pick. The Ravens nab one of the drafts best edge rushers with insane production. In his final season at Marshall, he produced 17.0 sacks and 22.5 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles. He was the No. 10 ranked overall prospect by The Athletic’s Dane Brugler. He was the consensus No. 17 pick and was overwhelmingly labeled a first-round draft pick.
But there’s a reason Green was not a first-round pick. He has been twice accused of sexual assault, which he revealed at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. He denies both allegations. That all but certified the Ravens would have him off the board entirely. Apparently, we were wrong. Now, to hear from Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta and Head Coach John Harbaugh on their “zero-tolerance policy,” something that’s been under scrutiny this offseason as kicker Justin Tucker is under NFL investigation for inappropriate sexual behavior. — Kyle Phoenix
Green was one of the best available players on the board for Day 2. If not for off the field concerns, which are a legitimate red flag, Green likely would have been a first round pick. He fills an immediate need at edge rusher and can provide an instant impact, while still possessing high upside. Green was the most all-around productive edge rusher in FBS last year. The biggest question with Green are character concerns, which run counter to the Ravens’ long-standing “zero tolerance” policy. The Ravens evidently feel comfortable enough in Green’s profile to look past this, which is a rare occasion. From a purely football standpoint, this another tremendous value selection. — Frank Platko
I am quite shocked by this pick considering the off the field issues surrounding Green. From a pure football standpoint, the Ravens are getting one of the top edge rushers in this draft. Baltimore desperately needed another edge rusher with Odafe Oweh entering the final season of his rookie contract and Kyle Van Noy on the backend of his career.
I will be interested to hear what Eric DeCosta and John Harbaugh have to say about this pick considering their “zero tolerance” policy. — Dustin Cox
Well, this is certainly best player available. Mike Green shot up draft boards after the Senior Bowl and ended up being considered a top 20 talent. He might have some of the highest pass rush upside in this class, outside of Abdul Carter. Green could immediately give the Ravens double digit sacks and be stable in the run game. He has burst, bend, and violence to win at the NFL level. He might be the second best pass rusher in the draft.
The issue is Green is dealing with off the field issues and goes against their zero-tolerance policy, which is already under fire with Justin Tucker. Maybe this is a shift in policy. Maybe they cleared the issue. If they can keep Green clean, he could be the best pass rusher they’ve had in the building in a very long time. — Zach Canter
