The New Orleans Saints are no longer a winning roster and are rebuilding this season, so they could make cornerback Alontae Taylor available on the trade block. According to one source, they believe Taylor is in an odd place as he’s in his last year of his contract and there haven’t been talks about an extension. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Tennessee product has been a viable backup for the Saints for most of his tenure in New Orleans. After serving as the insurance policy for veteran Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo for most of his seasons, Taylor finally got a starting role alongside Kool-aid McKinstry after the Saints traded Lattimore and let Adebo hit free agency this past offseason.
The cornerback isn’t the only one who could be available for a trade, as the Saints could wind up selling more players at the price. At 0-4, the team might be in a better place to revamp this entire secondary unit, and Taylor should be able to garner at least a fifth-round pick. Taylor finished the 2024 campaign with four sacks, 89 tackles, 16 passes defended and two forced fumbles, so he has a ton of potential for a contending team, and he won’t be able to do that in New Orleans anymore. The Saints could be fine trading Taylor after rostering Rezjohn Wright and Ugo Amadi, but here are three teams that may pursue the former second-rounder at the right price.

RUMOR: Former Saints Second Rounder Alontae Taylor Could Be On Trade Block – 3 Possible Suitors Emerge
Potential Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best offenses statistically, but the same can’t be said about their defense. If they have playoff aspirations, they must put the defense in the best position to win, and that starts with the secondary unit. Quarterback Dak Prescott is playing his best football yet, and they can’t let that aura die since he’s not getting any younger. While Jerry Jones has two extra first-round picks, he won’t use any of them on Taylor.
The Cowboys could use at least a fourth-round pick to get Taylor a part of their secondary room. Trevon Diggs did show some signs of life, but it wasn’t enough to stop a talented Green Bay offense that consisted of Romeo Doubs recording three touchdowns. Taylor isn’t the most explosive defender, but he could be the upgrade Dallas needs behind Diggs, DaRon Bland and Kaiir Elam.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders are in the market for a cornerback as well. The team surprised everyone last year by making it to the NFC Championship Game, but they will need help to return. The losses against Green Bay and Atlanta showed proof that they could use another talented cornerback to pair with Marshon Lattimore and Trey Amos. While they have Mike Sainristil to step up in crucial moments, it wouldn’t hurt to get another former Saint in the mix to help Lattimore with more insurance policy.
Baltimore Ravens
Sitting at 1-3, the Baltimore Ravens need a wake-up call. After making it to the divisional round last year, it looks like they’ll barely touch the wild-card if that even happens. With Lamar Jackson missing upcoming games, they must carve out an explosive secondary that already lost Marlon Humphrey. No one can replace the veteran, but it gives them some type of life to help Nate Wiggins, Jaire Alexander and Chidobe Awuzie.
