Saints All-Pro Tweets Out Frustration Ahead of Potential Ravens, Lions Trade

November 4, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

Cam Jordan Tweet

The New Orleans Saints are now on a seven-game losing streak, and defensive end Cam Jordan did not hold back his frustrations in his latest tweet. The Saints entered the season with a roster that looked like NFL purgatory: too good to earn a top-five pick, but not good enough to make a deep playoff run. Years of kicking the can down the line allowed the Saints to keep a small handful of veterans at the expense of the financial liberty to pursue top-end talent.

However, the season’s first two games made it look like general manager Mickey Loomis and head coach Dennis Allen knew what they were doing. New Orleans dominated the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys to kick off the season but then lost six straight games thanks to an endless streak of injuries and bad bounces. With Derek Carr back on the field, the Saints had a chance to right the ship against Carolina. Instead, Bryce Young’s squad pulled off the upset and made it seven straight losses for the Saints. Now destined to sell at the trade deadline, Cam Jordan sent out a tweet that reads like an apology mixed with a goodbye.

We just lost to the panthers… I love y’all New Orleans truly had higher expectations and the best of hopes for us, y’all deserve it.

— Cam Jordan (@camjordan94) November 3, 2024

An eight-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, Cam Jordan used to be one of the greatest edge defenders in the game. Unfortunately, age has caught up to the former first-round pick, as he has only recorded nine tackles, one quarterback hit, and one interception on the season. Despite the lack of production, teams like the Baltimore Ravens or Detroit Lions could try and acquire him, and the cash-strapped Saints could deal him for whatever they can get.

Cam Jordan Tweets Out Frustration Ahead of Potential Trade

The Baltimore Ravens shut down the Denver Broncos in their dominant Week 9 victory, but their ability to stop Bo Nix doesn’t mean they have a good defense. The unit entered the week ranked 26th in EPA/play allowed and could use more talent to slow down the AFC’s elite passing attacks. Edge defenders Kyle Van Noy and first-round pick Odafe Oweh are playing well, but this team could benefit from adding a third option to the mix. If Cam Jordan really was saying goodbye in his tweet, it might be because Baltimore is going after him.

Despite their 6-3 record, the Ravens would not host a playoff game if the postseason started today. The 6-2 Pittsburgh Steelers currently run the AFC North and Baltimore needs to add as much talent as possible to take down their most hated rivals. Even if they can’t secure the top seed in the AFC, hosting at least one playoff game is huge for the odds of winning it all.

More Help in Detriot

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is a wizard. Despite having no reliable edge defenders and losing Brian Burns to a questionable ejection, Detroit still limited the Green Bay Packers offense to 14 points in Week 9. This team has the talent and organizational structure to win it all, but they shouldn’t shy away from improving the defensive line. The Aidan Hutchinson injury will come back to haunt this team at some point, and Cam Jordan could help minimize his absence.

Reports indicate that the Lions will trade for Za’Darius Smith shortly, but that shouldn’t stop them from pursuing Jordan. With free agent signee Marcus Davenport also sidelined, Detroit needs two reliable edge defenders. Cam Jordan might not be the player he once was, but maybe he improves under old friend Dan Campbell.
