Saints Running Back’s Cryptic Instagram Posts Could Lead to Ravens, Chargers Trade

September 6, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

Kendre Miller Instagram

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller has not started his career on the highest note, and the former third-round pick recently took to Instagram to voice his frustrations. At this point last year, New Orleans believed that Miller could be the eventual heir to Alvin Kamara as the leader of this backfield. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, as injuries limited him to just eight games and 156 rushing yards as a rookie.

Miller entered training camp hoping to improve from this disappointing campaign, but the injury bug bit once again. The running back missed most of training camp and the preseason, with head coach Dennis Allen going out of his way to express his disappointment in Miller. Kendre Miller recently posted a cryptic story on Instagram about humbling his “mockers.” Could Miller be referring to Allen and, if so, could the Saints trade the disgruntled running back to a team like the Baltimore Ravens or Los Angeles Chargers?

Saints Could Trade Kendre Miller After Cryptic Instagram Post

Even if he finds a new team, Kendre Miller will have to accept life as a backup running back for at least one more season. With that in mind, the Ravens could acquire the former third-round pick and have him spend the year backing up superstar Derrick Henry. Henry is a phenomenal player who is still one of the most ferocious backs in football, but he’s entering his age-30 season and has over 2,000 NFL carries to his name. The human body can only handle so much work, and Kendre Miller is an ideal backup for this team.

After losing Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Ravens could use a reliable backup. Justice Hill is nothing special, and 2023 breakout star Keaton Mitchell is still recovering from a season-ending injury. Kendre Miller is still on the injured reserve, but assuming he can get back on the field after Week 4, the frustrated Instagram poster could find a new home with Baltimore. After all, he was a third-round pick for a reason and a change of scenery could bring out the best in his game.

Harbaugh’s Run Game

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to run the ball as much as physically possible. While he has the offensive line required for this mission, his running backs leave something to be desired. As mentioned above, Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins are now in Los Angeles, but the two players aren’t anything to write home about. Edwards is exactly as good as his surroundings, while Dobbins is coming off a torn Achilles, which historically spells the end for running backs. No matter what Kendre Miller says on Instagram, he won’t start right away. However, he could be a part of this committee and earn a larger role as the season progresses.

During his time in San Francisco, Harbaugh operated a physical, run-first offense led by Frank Gore. Kendre Miller is not nearly as good as Gore, but the running back has a similar skillset as a north-south runner who defenders struggle to take down between the tackles. Harbaugh excels at bringing the best out of his players, so perhaps Miller will find some life on the west coast.
