In SB Nation’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft, the Baltimore Ravens awaited their pick at No. 30 and landed the best player available.

The 2024 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft has commenced over the last couple weeks and the Baltimore Ravens patiently sat at No. 30 overall. While six total trades happened in Round 1, we here at Baltimore Beatdown gave our best impression of general manager Eric DeCosta, as opposed to leaping up for a particular draft crush.

The big-name prospects by now were all off the board. Here’s the Round 1 order.

  1. CHI — QB Caleb Williams
  2. WAS — QB Drake Maye
  3. NE — QB Jayden Daniels
  4. TRADE: MIN (via AZ) — QB J.J. McCarthy
  5. TRADE: AZ (via LAC) — WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
  6. NYG — WR Rome Odunze

  9. TRADE: LVR (via CHI) — QB Michael Penix Jr.
  10. NYJ — OT Taliese Fuaga
  11. LAC — OT J. C. Latham
  12. DEN — QB Bo Nix
  13. TRADE: CHI (via LVR) — EDGE Dallas Turner
  14. NO — OT Troy Fautanu
  15. IND — TE Brock Bowers
  16. SEA — DT Jer’Zhan Newton
  17. JAX — CB Terrion Arnold
  18. CIN — DT Byron Murphy II
  19. TRADE: ATL (from LAR) — EDGE Laiatu Latu
  20. PIT — OT Olu Fashanu
  21. MIA — EDGE Jared Verse
  22. PHI — CB Quinyon Mitchell
  23. TRADE: AZ (from MIN) — CB Cooper DeJean
  24. DAL — C Jackson Powers-Johnson
  25. GB — OT Amarius Mims
  26. TB — OL Graham Barton
  27. AZ (via HOU) — EDGE Chop Robinson
  28. BUF — WR Brian Thomas Jr.
  29. DET — CB Kool-Aid McKinstry

Debate sprung in the Beatdown war room between two prospects: Offensive tackle Tyler Guyton and and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. In the end, the Beatdown staff went with who they believe is the best player available.

With the 30th pick in the 2024 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Tyler Guyton, offensive tackle, Oklahoma.

Tyler Guyton

NFL Scouting Combine Nos.

Height: 6’8”
Weight: 322 lbs.
Arm length: 34 1/8”
Hand size: 10 1/4”
40-yard dash: 5.19 seconds
10-yard split: 1.76 seconds
Vertical jump: 34.5”
Broad jump: 8’11”
3-cone drill: 7.5 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.71 seconds

Short and simple, unlike Guyton, is the fact the Ravens need offensive line help in the present and future. After trading offensive tackle Morgan Moses, they need a right tackle. They currently have Daniel Faalele on the roster, but it’s unclear if he’s the answer this season. Guyton is an immediate plug-and-play right tackle capable of protecting quarterback Lamar Jackson on the right side.

Guyton’s elite trait is pass protection. Pundits are highly complimentary of his protection skills, including NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.

“Ascending tackle prospect with the traits and tape to project a bright future as a high-level pass protector in the league,” Zierlein wrote. “Guyton’s value comes with his pass protection, as he has the length, feet and body control to become a human roadblock. He should become a talented starter at either tackle position.”

Having Guyton man the right side in 2024 solidifies the tackle positions for the Ravens. With Guyton on the right, Ronnie Stanley on the left and backups Patrick Mekari and Josh Jones, they have their tackles for the present. And if the Ravens don’t re-sign Stanley next season, the hope is Guyton moving to left tackle and becoming a franchise cornerstone.

According to the oddsmakers at DraftKings Sportsbook, the Ravens are expected to draft an offensive lineman with their first selection. Currently, the odds are -230 that the first player the Ravens will draft will be an O-lineman, compared to defensive line/edge (+300), cornerback (+550) and wide receiver (+700).
