ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe likes a lot of NFL teams this year, but there’s one that he feels is the best right now – and it’s not the Kansas City Chiefs.
Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up yesterday morning, Uncle Shannon was asked by Mike Greenberg if he feels that the Baltimore Ravens are the league’s best team. He quickly replied, “Yes.”
Sharpe explained that the Ravens are the best team because not only are they improving in the passing game – as so many have criticized in the past – they’re also playing elite defensive football which he compared to the 2000 Ravens.
“They’re the best team in the AFC and it’s not even close. Not only can they run the football but Lamar Jackson is throwing the football extremely well. Odell (Beckham Jr.) got to the endzone yesterday and those young receivers are starting to come along… But defensively, they’re getting back to playing 2000 Ravens football defensively. When you give up less than 14 points in today’s NFL, that’s saying something… Yeah, this is the best team in the NFL,” Sharpe said.

The Baltimore Ravens are now tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the best record in the AFC and second-best record in the NFL behind the Philadelphia Eagles.
The bad news for us fans is that the two teams won’t be facing off in the regular season to give us what could very well be a playoff preview or even an AFC Championship Game preview.
Are the Ravens the best team in the NFL?
