“Short List” Of Teams Could Sign Released All-Pro

December 17, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

Odell Beckham Teams

Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham cleared waivers, so he should start visiting interested teams in the coming days. A first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham was arguably the league’s best receiver at his peak, taking the league by storm and making three Pro Bowls to start his career. While injuries took away some of his natural ability, he was a reliable depth option as recently as 2023. During his lone season with the Baltimore Ravens, Beckham recorded 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t continue his success with the Miami Dolphins. Buried behind Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and tight end Jonnu Smith, Beckham requested his release and hopes to latch on with a contender and chase yet another Super Bowl ring. The wide receiver reportedly has a short list of preferred teams, and while we don’t know which teams those are, the following five organizations make the most sense as potential destinations.

5 Teams That Could Sign Free Agent Odell Beckham

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs offense has not played up to its usual standard in 2024, and the unit will not improve with Patrick Mahomes battling an ankle injury. Chiefs backup Carson Wentz may have to start, and while the former Eagle has some impressive tape from years gone by, it’s been a while since he’s played at a starting-caliber level. Free agent signee Marquise Brown should be back before long, but Odell Beckham could be a welcome addition for a team that must find a more reliable possession receiver.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again set to make the playoffs, but they’ll need more offensive firepower to go on a deep run. Russell Wilson is in the midst of an impressive bounceback season, but he’s still not the borderline MVP player he was with the Seahawks. George Pickens is an impressive player, but this team could use another complementary receiver. The Steelers should be one of the top teams for Beckham, and head coach Mike Tomlin knows how to get the most out of his receivers.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens could use another wide receiver, and we already know that Beckham can make plays in this offense. While Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are a solid starting duo, this team needs a third receiver. The Diontae Johnson trade continues to be a disaster, as the team excused him from practice and could cut him before the end of the season. Beckham could return to Baltimore and add some offensive firepower to a team that must compensate for a questionable defense.

Los Angeles Rams

Back in 2021, Beckham joined the Rams midway through the season and played a pivotal role in helping the team win the Super Bowl. History could repeat itself, as Los Angeles currently leads the NFC West and could use another receiver. Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp are as reliable as ever, but the early portion of the season proved there is no reliable third option on the team. Matthew Stafford is not getting any younger, so the Rams must maximize their current championship window.

Los Angeles Chargers

The past three weeks prove the Los Angeles Chargers need more offensive firepower to keep up with the elite AFC teams. Averaging 17 points over that timespan, the team is 1-2 with the lone victory coming over the struggling Atlanta Falcons. Justin Herbert is great, but the team should add Beckham to complement rookie Ladd McConkey and former first-round pick Quentin Johnston.
