Steelers veteran Cam Heyward speaks for many when he says he’s surprised that more teams aren’t entering the bidding war for Lamar Jackson.
The Baltimore Ravens hit their superstar quarterback with a non-exclusive franchise tag earlier this year, opening the door for other teams to extend offer sheets.
So far, it’s been all quiet.
“He is the heart and soul of that team… To think that more teams aren’t bidding for his services is kind of surprising,” Heyward said during a recent appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

While there hasn’t been much movement on the Jackson front yet, Heyward believes more teams will get into the mix after this year’s draft process.
Jackson and the Ravens were unable to come to a long-term contract extension earlier this offseason. Instead of meeting the former league MVP’s pricey contract demands, the team extended their $32.416 million non-exclusive tag.
The Ravens will have the final opportunity to match any possible offers that come Jackson’s way before the 2023 season.
