“Swear I Could Help Ya’ll” – Could Chiefs Sign This Free Agent?

September 8, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Since the Kansas City Chiefs will lose wide receiver Xavier Worthy for a couple of games, the team could target Allen Robinson before their Week 2 matchup. Robinson made a tweet that went viral, which even Bleacher Report posted about that he’s willing to help the receiver unit for the Chiefs. The team already entered the 2025 campaign without Rashee Rice, who is serving a six-game suspension for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy stemming from the car crash last year in March. The Chiefs will have two surviving without their top two receivers until at least some point during the midseason.

The good news is that since Robinson is willing to help, he might be available in a cost-effective contract. Kansas City probably doesn’t want to spend too much on a wideout that they only plan on signing for at least a season. Originally selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Penn State product spent the first few seasons in his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording a Pro Bowl season during his sophomore campaign, but those days are behind him. After spending just one season with the Lions last year, it’s clear that he doesn’t have many years ahead of him, and he could opt to retire after if the Chiefs give him one more opportunity.

With JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquise Brown and Tyquan Thornton as the frontrunners as starters, it’s obvious that they need help. However, these three teams could roll the dice on Robinson as well.

Could Chiefs Sign Allen Robinson? – Other 3 Possible Fits

Potential Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

While the Baltimore Ravens don’t need another wide receiver, the way Lamar Jackson can distribute the ball to any playmaker proves that they could use any weapon they could get. DeAndre Hopkins, Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman all had their positive moments during the Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but they couldn’t deliver when they needed to. This might have been the defense’s fault and a costly fumble from Derrick Henry, but when you have the receivers to distribute the ball, Jackson should feel comfortable.

This doesn’t mean he won’t feel that comfort at all for the rest of the season. However, it wouldn’t hurt to add a WR4 behind the front-running receivers that they have consistently on the field.

Los Angeles Chargers

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers could use some stability in the aerial attack. While Quentin Johnston flashed and finally showed signs of improvement, the biggest thing for him is whether he can stay consistent. Ladd McConkey and veteran Keenan Allen are still their top receivers for the passing offense, so they should be looking for an upgrade over Jalen Reagor. While KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris are adjusting to the league, they should get Robinson in the slot, and Justin Herbert, still a top 5 quarterback, could bring out one more big season in him.

Minnesota Vikings

After trading for Adam Thielen, the Minnesota Vikings aren’t in the market for a wide receiver, but it wouldn’t hurt to add one last pinch of veteran experience. The Vikings could use Robinson in situational moments and create some separation for Jalen Nailor and Tai Felton. Robinson won’t see the field much, but why not play one last time for a contender?
