Former two-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs has been arrested on charges stemming from a recent incident at a Starbucks in Scottsdale, Arizona.

According to Peter Valencia of AZFamily.com, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Suggs was arrested “on charges of threatening and disorderly conduct involving weapons from an incident on March 10.”

Per the report, court documents state that Suggs is the alleged instigator in a road rage incident that occurred at the drive-thru of the Scottsdale Starbucks. Suggs is believed to have backed into the victim’s vehicle, who then approached Suggs, leading to a fight.

Investigators state that at one point in the confrontation, Suggs threatened the victim and later brandished a gun without pointing it at them. The victim reported the incident and later identified the driver as Suggs.

“Suggs made his initial court appearance in front of a Superior Court judge just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, where it was learned that he was the alleged instigator in a road rage incident. In court documents, investigators say the argument started over whether Suggs had backed into the victim’s vehicle while in a Starbucks drive-thru near 91st Street and Pinnacle Peak Road in north Scottsdale,” Valencia wrote.

“The victim reportedly approached Suggs, and the pair began to fight but eventually got back into their cars and placed their coffee orders. Later, both began to swear at each other when Suggs allegedly said, “You wanna go? I’ll kill your (expletive). Detectives say Suggs eventually pulled out a gun but never pointed it at the victim. Both left afterward, and the victim reported the incident to police, who later identified the driver as Suggs.”

Suggs has since been freed on supervised release with his next court date slated for April 25.

Suggs played 16 of his 17 professional football seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, making seven Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams while becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks. He was a part of their 2012 Super Bowl team and his 229 games played are more than any defender in Ravens history.

Suggs played his final NFL season split between the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, joining the Chiefs for their Super Bowl LIV run and winning a second ring in his final NFL game.
