The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers last night 16 to 13 and while Jarret Pfiefer will have the complete recap lets revisit the Greg Roman problem. If you have not read my article on Greg Roman and how he has handcuffed the Ravens offense check it out.
Last night the Ravens offense did not exactly struggle in the passing game, it straight up abandoned it. The Ravens wide receivers only had two receptions. Desean Jackson and Demarcus Robinson had one reception each for nine yards. The tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely had the rest of the 130 passing yards.
While it is obvious that the Ravens wide receivers may not be the greatest group in the NFL two receptions is straight up abandoning the position.
The Ravens did not fair better on the ground with only 120 rushing yards. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley was under constant pressure when asked to throw. All the throws were one read options, Huntley either saw a receiver and then tucked and run.
I do not think Huntley is to blame for the play calling, he has shown to have some accuracy passing. While the Ravens are missing their best wide receivers in Rashod Batman and Devin Duvernay but the Ravens could have used the “next man up” method.
The Steelers knew the Ravens were going to run and the Ravens kept trying to run it, while the Ravens did average 4.3 yards per attempt. The Ravens would have given the Steelers a lot more problems if the Ravens were more creative.
