Top Destinations for Best Available Remaining Free Agent

Here are some top destinations for the best available remaining free agent safety, Jamal Adams this offseason. The NFL free agency and draft may be behind everyone but that doesn’t mean teams can stop making moves. There are still teams out there that are still making things happen before training camp begins next month. Adams is still one of the best safeties available on the market next to Justin Simmons.

However, he has a different build of safety since he’s more of a “strong” physical player with his ability to be a blitzer. Adams still holds the NFL single-season record for sacks with 9.5. He won’t be an immediate change for a team’s defense but his skillset could be enough for a team to get them back on track. Head Coaches and Defensive Coordinators would likely find more success in him tripling the coverage on the line to get after the quarterback.

However, the downfall of his age and injury comes into play as to why he hasn’t been able to land a job in the league. Since Adams is the type of player to make plays that put his body on the line, is something he probably can’t do anymore. A team could take a risk of doing so if they want but the likelihood of another injury from him rises. Adams hasn’t played a full season since 2018 and his track record on injuries is really extensive.

Teams shouldn’t be scared of this since he’s still relatively young entering the season at 28. He has a lot of production left while his prime days are past him, Adams can still provide a lot. Some teams are still looking at him so this means he still has a chance. Here are some top destinations for Adams.

Baltimore Ravens

John Harbaugh reportedly likes the mindset of Adams is providing for a team’s defense. He has high praise for him while they are looking for depth in the safety position. The team already has one of the best starting safeties in the league with Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams. They both have their unique abilities to get after the ball but adding a veteran insurance policy at depth would give the secondary a huge boost.

Even though he seems to be slowing down, it doesn’t stop from Harbaugh giving him some credit.

“He and I, at the Pro Bowl like four years ago when we were there, we rode the bus back and forth every day for whatever reason, we got to be kind of pals,” he said. “Then, we came back, and we met. He met with a lot of people, but he met in my office, and we had another great conversation. I was very impressed with his mindset, and we’ll see what happens.”

Baltimore seems to be the number one fit for Adams.

Kansas City Chiefs

Many reports are saying that the Chiefs could sign the $70 million free agent before training camp next month. This seems possible considering they weren’t able to ink a deal with a secondary piece this offseason. It may look promising with Trent McDuffie but trading away L’Jarius Sneed calls for some trouble. The team already lost Mike Edwards and Willie Gay so they need a solid piece to blitz the offenses.

New Orleans Saints

There are rumors at the beginning of the offseason that the Saints may sign Adams to a deal. However, it would make sense for Dennis Allen to bring in him while Tyrann Mathieu covers the deep coverage. The Saint’s secondary would be playing “lights out” against many contenders this season if this signing happens. Marcus Maye is returning but they need someone to help Johnathan Abram in the depth.
