C.J. Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba have already teamed up to form a formidable connection at Ohio State. Now they’re partnering up for a NIL deal with Express.
The Ohio-based fashion retailer announced the arrangement Monday in a statement celebrating the brand’s first collegiate athlete style ambassadors.
“As we build and engage our styling community, we look for partners who embody our brand purpose to create confidence and inspire self-expression,” said Sara Tervo, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Express. “We’re delighted to welcome CJ Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba to share their perspective on how personal style contributes to their confidence.”
The Buckeyes duo will use their social media platforms to promote Express and convey “how they turn to fashion to look and feel their most confident selves.”
After finishing his freshman campaign with 4,435 passing yards and 44 passing touchdowns to just six interceptions, Stroud is ready to promote his fashion game.
“I’m excited to be the newest Express ambassador and talk about my personal style,” Stroud said. “Whether I’m dressing up for game day or hanging out with friends, my clothes reflect how I’m feeling that day, and Express always comes through with different fits for all the occasions in my life. When I put on a suit, I get a special feeling – it creates a whole new level of confidence and I’m hoping to inspire others to feel that way every time they get dressed.”
Stroud and Smith-Njigba may have multiple NIL offers lined up after their unforgettable Rose Bowl performance. The teammates connected 15 times for 347 yards — giving Smith-Njigba the Rose Bowl record — and three touchdowns. Stroud finished the 48-45 victory over Utah with 573 passing yards and six touchdowns.
