2 Schools Named “Best Fits” For 5-Star Arch Manning

March 29, 2022 by The Spun

Adults around college football continue to obsess over where Arch Manning will go to school.

The five-star recruit is the most desired quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class, and not just because of his last name. Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU are among the top schools trying to bring the grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning to their campus.

Of course, outside observers can’t truly get into the mind of a teenager. Every high schooler takes different variables into account, but that hasn’t stopped pundits from speculating on Arch’s preferences.

Texas has emerged as a legitimate contender, with some suggesting the New Orleans native could relish the opportunity to revitalize the Longhorns. However, Carl Reed went in the opposite direction.

The 247Sports college football analyst identified Alabama and Georgia as the two best fits for Manning

“I think you gotta look at Georgia and Alabama because he can do something that none of the Mannings have done before. He can win the SEC and win the national championship.”

Reed said Manning could cement his legacy as “one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time” by joining an SEC powerhouse capable of competing for a national title every year.

Giving Nick Saban and Kirby Smart a five-star quarterback is a dangerous proposition for the rest of college football. If winning is Manning’s paramount priority, it’d certainly make sense to choose one of the last two national champions.

On the other hand, Manning’s decision could be more focused on which program best positions him to one day match (or exceed) the two Super Bowls each of his uncles won. Or maybe he just falls in love with one particular campus.

On3 Recruits pegs Texas as the narrow favorites over Alabama to land Manning’s commitment. No matter where he goes, he’s poised to become a must-watch player on Saturdays.
