Even though there’s a lockout in baseball, that doesn’t mean teams still aren’t interested in free agents.
One of the more prominent free agents that still isn’t signed is Freddie Freeman. He’s been with the Atlanta Braves his entire career and just won the World Series for the first time.
Per Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Tampa Bay Rays made Freeman an offer before the lockout was put in place. It also sounds like the New York Yankees are seriously interested.
Sources: The low-revenue Tampa Bay Rays made superstar Freddie Freeman an offer before the lockout. Yankees very interested. Jays, Dodgers, others could fit. It’s a surprise Braves didn’t lock him up before lockout; they remain in mix. (New daily feature: actual baseball news)

It’s no surprise that the Braves are still involved as well. After all, he’s been a major part of the franchise since 2010 and just had a very stellar 2021 campaign.
Freeman finished the season with 31 home runs and 83 RBIs, while also notching 180 hits. He also batted at least .300 for the second straight season and for the fifth time in the last six.
He’s one of the best sluggers on the market and looks set to cash out, wherever he goes.
In order for that to happen though, a new CBA deal needs to be agreed to. So far, both sides haven’t come close to reaching an agreement.
