The Washington Football Team entered the 2021 NFL season with high expectations. A big reason for those high expectations was the backfield of Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic.
Gibson got off to a slow start, had fumbling issues and didn’t really hit his stride until November. McKissic was his usual brilliant self, playing a critical role in wins over the Falcons and Seahawks. Unfortunately, McKissic took a nasty hit in the win over the Seahawks and missed the rest of the season.
One of Washington’s key offseason moves was re-signing McKissic. McKissic initially agreed to a two-year deal with the Buffalo Bills after the legal tampering opened, only to change his mind once the Commanders matched the offer before free agency began.
