The Washington Commanders opened mandatory minicamp Tuesday with head coach Ron Rivera first addressing the Jack Del Rio controversy from last week.
Then, it was all about football. The media was present for Tuesday’s action in Ashburn, which featured plenty of Washington quarterbacks Carson Wentz, Taylor Heinicke, Sam Howell and Cole Kelley throwing to the wideouts and tight ends.
While the media and fans may not gain much from minicamp, it is valuable for coaches. Some younger players who were maybe flying under the radar, open the eyes of coaches during the spring, earning an extended look at training camp.
