The Los Angeles Lakers have a long to-do list over the offseason and getting a new head coach is at the top of it.
The Lakers let go of former head coach Frank Vogel a little over a week ago after they collapsed down the stretch. They looked to be a lock for a spot in the play-in tournament before finishing with a 33-49 record.
One name that’s emerged as the betting favorite to land the job is Mark Jackson. Jackson is the top favorite on Bovada with +125 odds to get the job. David Fizdale (+400), Doc Rivers (+600), Nick Nurse (+600), and Mike Brown (+800) round out the top five.
It makes sense that Jackson is at the top of the list since superstar LeBron James would reportedly be very excited by him landing the gig.
Jackson coached the Golden State Warriors for three seasons (2011-14) and led them to the playoffs twice.
Golden State won a round in 2013 before losing in the second round and then lost in the first round in 2014.
We’ll see if the Lakers interview him during this process.
