Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown has caused a stir on Twitter this afternoon.
Along with three other marquee wideouts–D.K. Metcalf, Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel–Brown has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason. The 2019 second-round pick will reportedly hold out of the team’s offseason program in search of a new deal.
On Monday, Brown seemingly reacted to some of the backlash he might be getting for his contract stance, and it got people talking.
“I’m a diva and a bad teammate all of sudden, lol ok,” he wrote. “Do what you have to do then and so will I.”
Not surprisingly, Brown’s mentions and quote-tweets are filled with fans of different teams not-so-subtly recruiting him to join their favorite franchise.
Who the heck is saying that?? https://t.co/zTvZRQnJel

I never understand why fans and teams get upset at players missing VOLUNTARY camp as if they don’t know the definition of the word. Especially during contract negotiations.
If your job said you can “Voluntarily” come in on weekends, most of you staying home lol. https://t.co/RSeAEv3fQl

Hey @Jets, toss the 38th pick & 108 at the Titans for AJ Brown.
Mild injury concern (only started 36 of 48 games in 3 years) but Brown is a superstar. Love Garrett Wilson at 10, just think Brown is instant HIGH impact https://t.co/pJuQhClq87

Brown currently has one year remaining on his rookie deal. His base salary for 2022 is a shade under $4 million, which is incredibly low considering how effective Brown has been in the NFL.
Brown topped 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first two seasons, adding 19 receiving touchdowns. His numbers dipped in 2021, as he dealt with injuries, but the Ole Miss product still managed 869 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.
Stay tuned to see if he’s still in Nashville or playing elsewhere this season.
