The MLB All-Star Game is one of the best in the business. It sticks true to the game’s format and makes you feel like a kid again. However, a major change could be implemented to the prestigious event this upcoming season.
There’s reportedly a “tentative” new agreement regarding the All-Star Game in the new CBA. The agreement states “if the All-Star Game is tied after 9 innings, the game will be decided by a Home Run Derby.”

There’s plenty of incentive to implement this new idea. Fans would want to watch the entire game, especially the end, to see if a tie will take place. It’d be more competitive than ever, as well.
Baseball fans are thrilled with the new idea that could be implemented this upcoming season.
“Been saying it for months! EXTRA INNINGS SHOULD BE DETERMINED BY A HR DERBY! It saves the bullpen, puts sluggers against each other, and adds to the popularity of the sport. Old school fans needs to get with the new. Plain and simple,” one fan tweeted.

“Opinion: I actually like this move. In the off chance there’s a tie after 9 innings, players won’t have to play more/risk injury, while still giving the fans what they want. All the more reason to watch the Home Run Derby too,” a fan wrote.

It’s worth nothing this wouldn’t replace the Home Run Derby. That’d still stand as its own standalone event. This would simply be an add-on to the All-Star Game in the event the game’s tied after nine innings.
