Ahead of what is supposedly a final decision from Aaron Rodgers on his 2022 season, the Green Bay Packers are ready in wait with a historic contract offer.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Packers have made an offer to Rodgers that would “alter the quarterback market.” An offer of any length will help the Packers’ cap space situation though.
Green Bay remain $27 million over the cap ahead of the start of the new league year next week. Rodgers would count a whopping $46.1 million against the cap with his contract as it is now.
Giving Rodgers a contract extension now would not only help get the Packers out of salary cap hell, it would give Rodgers the compensation worthy of a two-time defending NFL MVP. It would also most likely ensure that Rodgers plays his remaining years in a Packers uniform.

Patrick Mahomes is currently the NFL’s highest-paid player and is currently in the early stages of a historic $450 million contract – the largest in NFL history by a huge margin.
If the deal is as “quarterback market altering” as Fowler says it is, we can only imagine what the Packers have in store.
Rodgers is controversial off the field but remains one of the NFL’s most dominant players on Sundays.
Since 2019 he is 39-9 in the regular season with 12,416 passing yards, 111 touchdowns and just 13 interceptions. But that hasn’t manifested into Super Bowls.
