Aoiyama told reporters that this maybe it for him and that he is not interested in trying to make his way back up to Division 1 Makuuchi in the case that he is demoted to Division 2 Juryo for November’s tournament. “Wrestlers will eventually have to hang it up, I feel like I am getting to that point. I don’t know how much longer my knees can take it,” said a dejected Aoiyama.
Speaking of the leader, Atamifuji defeated Tobizaru handily in a battle of wits to go to 10-1 and take a 2-win lead over the next closest competitor.
