The Commanders now have five picks in the first three rounds, with the last of those likely to land at around 100th overall. Remember, owner Josh Harris runs an analytics-heavy Sixers operation, and just hired a new analytics chief in DC.

Talked about this on the podcast, but thinking the D is cooked minus Sweat/Young is inaccurate. Two years ago in 6 games with Smith-Williams/Toohill as the starting DEs: team went 4-2; points per game went from 29.9 in the other 11 games to 17.5; yards per game from 400 to 284

Now, other aspects have to go well — coverage has to improve. But, minus Sweat/Young in 2021, team used different pressures instead of relying on front 4. more blitzes on 3rd. Conversion rate went from 56.2 to 32.9.

QBs faced in this time: Dak, Russell Wilson (still a good version); Hurts and Derek Carr. But, again, more has to improve on D to duplicate success.
