Afterward, McLaurin said Daniels was trying to adjust the route mid-play to take advantage that pocket between the LBs and the secondary — space he could’ve sat down in instead of running through the post.

I’m writing for Quick Reads about whether Jayden Daniels can keep this up. Daniels has led WAS to the No. 2 off DVOA ever for a rookie in his first 4 starts, behind Brock Purdy. Some rookie QBs did have better passing stats incl. Big Ben, Marino, Watson. Anyway… (1/2)

The only example that suggests that Daniels can’t keep this up is Colt McCoy, who had a surprisingly strong start in 2010 before he faded down the stretch. Otherwise, all these rookie QBs played well all year. And of course Daniels has a very different resume than McCoy. (2/2)

It’s interesting to note that with all the outstanding stats out there about the Commanders’ offensive start, they aren’t No. 1 in offensive DVOA. That would be the Ravens. Commanders are second.
