Jayden Daniels excelled in the most difficult passing situations against the Lions.

vs. Blitz: 12/16, 191 yards, TD (+7.0% CPOE)
O2.5 sec: 10/16, 172 yards, TD (+6.3%)
Under Pressure: 7/9, 109 yards (+17.6%)

Daniels was sacked zero times.

— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) January 19, 2025

Daniels’ 191 passing yards against the Lions’ blitz are the 2nd-most in a game by a rookie since 2016 (in the regular season or postseason).

Daniels recorded a 114.7 passer rating against the blitz during the regular season, the highest mark by a rookie since 2016.

— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) January 19, 2025

The Lions defense did not generate a single pressure on Daniels with a four-man pass rush across 17 dropbacks.

When blitzing, however, the Lions did pressure Daniels 12 times on 20 blitzes (60%), yet they failed to record a sack on any of those 12 pressures with extra rushers.

I have been very critical of Jon Allen, but he was a key piece to this Commanders defense tonight. He played like a man on fire, getting pressure on the qb, chasing down rbs down field, generally being disruptive … it’s exactly the type of performance this team needed

— Mitchell Tischler (@Mitch_Tischler) January 19, 2025

Washington Commanders Pro Bowl quarterback Jayden Daniels is the FIRST rookie in NFL history with 300+ total yards in 2 playoff games.

In the win at the Detroit Lions in the divisional round Daniels totaled 350 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a 122.9 passer rating. pic.twitter.com/epgFBQEuna

Quan Martin’s 40-yard interception touchdown return was the longest since Darrell Green’s 72-yard pick-six in the divisional round against the L.A. Rams in Jan. 1984.

Jayden Daniels will be the 6th rookie QB since the 1970 merger to start a conference championship.

He has a chance to become the first to win it.

One thing it seems like Commanders owner Josh Harris understands—a pro sports owner’s job is to find good, competent, hard-working people, give them resources and get out of their way.

This sure looks like it’s just the start for that franchise.

With the Commanders upset win over the Lions, the NFL’s coaching cycle has been dramatically sped up. Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson now can interview and take head coaching jobs as soon as this week.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 19, 2025

I’m seeing in my mentions how people “feel bad for Dan Campbell”. What? Look…I have nothing against Dan Campbell. He’s a great coach but I don’t have an ounce of empathy for how he’s feeling. This is MY team and we’ve been through hell as fans. We have been a laughing stock for…

— Disco (@discoque90) January 19, 2025

Remember when Dan Campbell told Kevin O’Connell he’d see him in two weeks? How’d that one work out? Rams and Commanders had something to say about that. #RaiseHail
