Rivera: “We’re trying to play the best we can & at the same time grow a team. We’re not cutting a bunch of people, trading for a bunch of people, trying to hire a bunch of people….I understand [fan] frustration — a lot are frustrated here because we’re working our butts off.”

Jonathan Allen asked by @JunksRadio if he’s still as pissed off as he was yesterday postgame:
“I’m still pissed off as much as I (was) yesterday. … We got to turn it around right now.”
Said he still believes on Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio.
“I do. I truly wholeheartedly do.”

Asked if being 3-4 this year feels ‘different’ Rivera said: “It does because with a young quarterback there’s hope. As long as we have that young quarterback and he grows and develops and we play consistent complementary football we have a chance.”

This will be unpopular, but no. Washington actually kept a lot of guys in and had the right numbers to match the blitzes the Giants threw at them. Where they failed was IDing who was rushing and getting the right guys to pick those rushers up. Wasn’t a numbers issue. https://t.co/y62ks8f2D8

I was wrong with this. I don’t think the plan was bad, the execution was the problem. Missed assignments and poor protection calls led to the sacks.
Not sure who’s in charge of setting the protection (QB or Center) but it was not great https://t.co/ReJMqIulCb

Finished watching All-22 of #Commanders offense. Notes:
-First time this year most of the sacks weren’t down to Howell holding onto the ball
-Schematically, they had enough guys in for most blitzes. Issue was sliding line the right way.
-Gates/Charles struggled with stunts— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) October 23, 2023

Bieniemy used rollouts Sunday 8 times, seven of them coming in the 2nd half. Sam Howell completed passes on six of the eight rollouts, one of the two incompletions being a throwaway. He was pressured on just one of the rollouts and it was the throwaway.

The first play was 4th and 1, and the second was 3rd and five. Both coming from the last drive. Giants man across the board with no safety help. Bieniemy scheme’s Curtis Samuel open on both plays for potential touchdowns but he was not targeted on either. pic.twitter.com/mCzSLlI3vv

If I’m the #Commanders, I wouldn’t be trading Chase Young. I’d be looking to extend him.
I would consider separating him and Allen. Young and Allen both best attacking freely with teammates playing off them. Sweat/Payne good reacting and playing off others. Shift could boost all

PFF defensive grades for commanders vs giants. Chase Young’s best game of the season and that is now 2+ games in a row for Quan Martin with a 90+ overall grade (albeit on limited snaps). I’d like to see him get more playing time pic.twitter.com/EaoXzm7S3H

The moment everyone’s been waiting for:
4 of the 6 sacks were charged to a blocker, the other 2 were due to early pressure causing a clean up sack. 0 directly on Howell.

Hard to blame Howell for speeding things up after being sacked 6 times. But he had Dyami Brown come wide open on the third and goal at the end. Never looked right at any point. Dropped and fired to Terry, who was well covered. pic.twitter.com/epEtiSNFGr
