Been an ugly rush offense over the last six weeks for the Commanders RBs. In 5 of the last 6 games, the backs have averaged 19 carries for 58 yards. The lone exception where the Commanders’ running backs haven’t averaged 3 ypc ( ) came against the Tennessee Titans.

Deshaun Watson agreed to a restructuring of his contract with the Browns, source confirms, calling it basically a typical reworking of his deal for salary cap purposes. Watson, just as before, is expected to remain with the Browns next season.

I’m guessing that Deshaun Watson agreed to add three void years to his contract, so that the Browns can maximize future restructures of his contract if they so wish.
If they do more restructuring though, it’s going to create one heck of a dead money number when he’s gone.

Another possibility is that 2027 is not a void year, but has a placeholder base salary that allows them to do a June 1 release on all the cap dollars in the void years.
That would split up the dead money to $35.8M in 2027, and $53.7M in 2028.

One note that should have been clear: Deshaun Watson’s fully guaranteed sum of $92M over the next two years remains unchanged. He has not given up any guaranteed money. The alterations affect the salary cap, not cash.
