Worked out & couldn’t come to agreement 2 weeks ago.. ‍♀️

For now..on practice squad. https://t.co/hL3PAcaTws

For the first time in two years, the Commanders have a player born in the 1980s. (I know that was the stat you were all waiting for.)https://t.co/Zk9E8abvdg

Ricky Stromberg faced a physical hurdle this offseason coming off a significant knee injury last year. Waived/injured by Washington last week, the 2023 third-round pick will now undergo a right knee scope that is expected to keep him out around two months, source confirms.…

— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) September 2, 2024

If you are waived injured and don’t get picked up on waivers the player automatically lands on IR. They stay there until an injury settlement can be negotiated.

— Matt (@StuntPenguin) September 3, 2024

Center Ricky Stromberg, Washington’s third-round pick in 2023, is undergoing a right knee scope that will keep him out for approximately 7-8 weeks, per source.

Stromberg, who was waived/injured last week, plans to be ready to sign with a team at the midway point of the season.

To clarify for those asking or curious, there is no practice today for the Local 53. Commanders have a walkthrough this afternoon.

The first practice is Wednesday afternoon.

— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) September 2, 2024

Commanders have a walk thru today. No media there though. First time we see them is Wednesday. It’s Tampa week folks

To splash a little cold water on the rookie QBs starting this week:

There have been 100 rookie quarterbacks who have qualified for the DVOA leaderboards since 1979.

Only 18 had positive DVOAs. The average was -16.1%, or roughly 2023 Will Levis.

— Bryan Knowles (@BryKno) September 2, 2024

Rookies with passing DVOA below -30% included Phil Simms, Neil Lomax, John Elway, Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, and Donovan McNabb. https://t.co/PT9zKAMWRy

— Aaron Schatz (@ASchatzNFL) September 2, 2024

To further Bryan’s comment here, a list of the 18 rookie QBs who have put up positive passing DVOA (min 200 passes)

82 McMahon
83 Marino
98 Manning, Batch
03 Leftwich
04 Big Ben
08 Ryan
11 Dalton, Newton
12 Wilson, RG3

(continued next tweet) https://t.co/cxK5RhrHpk

— Aaron Schatz (@ASchatzNFL) September 2, 2024

Rookie QBs with positive passing DVOA, continued:

15 Winston
16 Dak
17 Watson
18 Mayfield
20 Herbert,
21 Mac Jones
23 Stroud

(Fewer rookie QBs had positive DVOA before 2000 in part because rookie QBs played less before 2000.)

Purdy must not have qualified in 2022

Matt Rhule on Sheduer Sanders’ comments after last year’s game:
“I’ve got love in my heart and a lot of respect for what they’re doing… at the end of the day, if Shedeur thought I disrespected his father, he’s standing up for him. Good for him. My son would stand up for me.”
