The NCAA Tournament is fast-approaching which is great news for the teams that are tournament bound.
However, it’s not great news for the teams that will miss post-season action. For the teams who fail to make the NCAA Tournament, or even the NIT and “lesser” tournaments, changes are in store.
That was the case for one college basketball program on Friday morning. According to multiple reports, the Rhode Island men’s basketball program decided to move on from head coach David Cox.
“Rhode Island has parted ways with David Cox,” college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported.

Cox took over for former Rhode Island head coach Dan Hurley after he left to take over the UConn Huskies. Following a stint as an assistant under Hurley, Cox seemed like the logical choice to take over the team.
He was successful in his first two seasons, racking up a record of 39-24. Unfortunately, the last two seasons haven’t been kind to Cox and the Rams, who own a 25-29 record over the past two years.
Following that tough stint, Rhode Island made the decision to move on.
