After a big performance in Super Bowl LV, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown started the 2021 season right where he left off in Thursday’s opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
Brown had five receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown in last night’s 31-29 win. And after the game, Brown had a message for fans.
In a postgame interview Brown was asked if he feels like he’s being “slept on” this season. Brown declared that he’s fine with people not taking him seriously and that his detractors won’t like being “woken up.”
“Keep them asleep,” Brown said. “Nobody likes to be woken up.”

Last year Antonio Browns had 45 receptions for 483 yards and four touchdowns in eight regular season games. He’s already at around a quarter of that production after just one game.
Brown still has some ways to go before he returns to the level of production that made him a superstar with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Between 2011 and 2018, Brown made the Pro Bowl seven times, leading the league in receptions, yards and touchdowns at least once.
A combination of off-the-field issues limited him to nine games over the past two seasons though. But the Buccaneers gave Brown a chance in 2020, and he certainly gave the team their money’s worth.
Will Antonio Brown return to the upper echelon of NFL wide receivers this season, or was last night’s game just a fluke?
