Hershey Bears Weekly Report Vo 3. 11/21-11/27
Welcome back to another edition of the Hersey Bears weekly report. The post where we take a look at what’s happening in Chocolatetown USA. Here’s what’s been going on with the Bears this week:
11/21- The Bears returned to The Giant Center to do battle with the Charlotte Checkers. The Bears have been on the losing end the past few games and looked to end their skid. The game was also their Hockey Fights Cancer game and they wore Lavender colors in their jerseys. The Checkers got off to a quick start and took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period. Matt Moulson got the Bears on the board with a power play goal. The Checkers would take the lead a minute and 4 seconds later to make the score 2-1. Before the period ended the Bears evened the game back up with a goal by Mike Sgarbossa after an initial miss by Michael Kempny. The Bears took the lead off a Joe Snively power play goal and Mike Sgarbossa added an empty netter to secure the win. The Bears won 4-2 and go to 7-5 on the year.
11/22- Bears did not play today
11/23- Big news for the Bears as Axel Jonsson-Fjällby and Garret Pilon have both returned from their stints with the Caps. Getting them back should give them a ton of depth on offense.
11/24- Beck Malenstyn and Mike Sgarbossa were recalled by Washington. Sgarbossa has a goal while Malenstyn has yet to get on the stat sheet. They ended up playing on the same line as fellow Hershey Bear Brett Leason. The Bears had a matchup with the Providence Bruins at home. The Bears came out flat as the Bruins got off to a 2-0 lead. The Bears would get one back from Joe Snively on a short handed goal. The Bears came out firing in the 3rd as they tied the game off a goal from Garrett Pilon and took the lead on a goal from Shane Gersich. The Bruins tied the game at 3 to end regulation. In OT Mason Morelli ended the game with a goal off a Michael Kempny rebound.
11/25- No game. Thanksgiving
11/26- A matchup of the two oldest AHL franchises took place in Rochester. The Americans jumped out to a 3-0 lead and took that lead into the 3rd. Another rough night for Copley as he continues to be inconsistent. The Americans added another in the frame to extend their lead to 4-0. The Bears finally got onto the board with a goal from Kody Clark. The Americans got another goal early in the 3rd to extend their lead to 5-1. The Bears got 2 goals from Garrett Pilon and Mason Morelli to cut the lead to 5-3. The Americans scored 2 more in the frame to take a 7-3 decision. Hershey’s record now soars at 8-6. The Bears are back in action tonight against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at home.
