Blue Hens Beat Up Tigers. Win 41-13

November 4, 2023 by Maryland Sports Blog

Towson dropped their 4th home game on the season. This time they were beaten pretty soundly by Delaware. The Blue Hens used a big first half to put the game away early and continue to dominate in conference play. The home woes for the Tigers continue as they continue to be beaten at home.

The star of the game was none other than Marcus Yarns, who accounted for 5 touchdowns on the day (4 rushing, 1 receiving). He finished the day with 63 yards rushing, but he made them count with 4 touchdowns on the ground.

Delaware quarterback Zach Maker had himself a day as well as he went 16-18 for 307 yards and two touchdowns. 1 of those was to Marcus Yarns and the other to Brandon Brose. Yarns totaled 105 yards on 4 catches, including a long of 75 yards. Nick Minicucci took over  finished the day 6-8 for 78 yards.

For Towson, Nathan Kent finished the day with 265 yards on 21 completions with a touchdown and an interception. He was sacked 3 times. The Tigers were limited to just 61 yards on the ground. Zay Perkins found the endzone for the Tigers. Lukkas Londono led Towson receivers with 5 receptions for 97 yards.

Defensively, for Delaware, Keene Arrington led all Blue Hens defenders with 5 total tackles. They got sacks from Dillon Trainer, Ethan Saunders and half sack from Jackson Taylor and Jack Hall. Tyron Herring got the line interception on the day.

For Towson, they got a fumble recovery from CJ McClendon and Xavier Terry led the team in tackles. Ernie Smith got a sack for the Tigers today. Jesus Gibbs and Dion Crews-Harris combined for a sack on the day as well.

The loss brings them to 0-4 at home this year. The Tigers now head back on the road to North Carolina to take on the North Carolina A&T Aggies. They themselves have struggled this year with a record of 1-7 and have yet to win a conference game. Their only win on the year came against Norfolk State 28-26.

Their main quarterback is New Port News, Va native Kevin White. He had 441 years passing on the year and 2 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. White leads the team in rushing touchdowns with 3 for 237 yards. Kenji Christian leads the team with 472 yards rushing. Christian also has 127 yards receiving and 1 touchdowns.

Defensively, BJ Turner leads the team with 85 total tackles. Avarion Cole is a playmaker in the secondary with 3 INT’s. Joshua Iseah leads the team with 3 sacks on the year. The Tigers will need to make big plays to get the win. They will also need to steal some possessions to come away with the win. GO TIGERS!
