However, another report indicates that Howland will coach through the NIT and his future has yet to be determined.
This in inaccurate. Ben Howland, at the least, will coach through the NIT. Howland has not met with AD John Cohen yet, a source tells me. https://t.co/uOOyExthWy

The 64-year-old coach has been with the Bulldogs since 2015, and holds a career record of 134-97 over his time on the sideline. Howland joined Mississippi State after a fantastic run at UCLA which included three Final Four appearances for the Golden Bears in seven NCAA Tournament appearances.
But after three straight seasons of 20 wins or more from 2017-2019, the Bulldogs have finished 18-15 in each of the past two seasons under Howland’s watch.
State reached the Big Dance just once with Howland as its coach.
That’s four SEC coaches done. And it’s not even halftime at the championship game yet. https://t.co/LnTUPhrHgZ

With Ben Howland’s firing, four SEC basketball coaches have been axed in as many days. Georgia’s Tom Crean, Mizzou’s Cuonzo Martin and LSU’s Will Wade have all cleaned out their offices for various reasons.
On Friday, Howland was asked if he plans to be back with the Bulldogs next season. But he ominously responded that his future with the program would hinge on conversations with the administration at season’s end.
Now we know how those talks with athletic director John Cohen went.
