Despite signing a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams last offseason, tight end Colby Parkinson could be in danger of a potential trade. According to NFLTradeRumors, they believe Parkinson might be expendable, especially after drafting Terrance Ferguson in this year’s draft. A healthy Tyler Higbee, who is returning this season, could put Parkinson more at risk of losing his job in Los Angeles. Parkinson was strangely the subject of trade rumors last season, but after giving him a legitimate chance to step up when Higbee was dealing with injuries, the tight end wasn’t able to live up to expectations.
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Stanford product spent the first three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, hoping to carve out a role, but wasn’t able to stay healthy in his sophomore campaign after suffering a broken foot. Despite recording 294 receiving and one touchdown, it’s not enough for the Rams to compensate for his next deal. If the Rams receive an offer for Parkinson before the season begins, they might take the chance, as they have two capable tight ends who can be versatile together, forming a solid threat for opposing defenses. There have been several rumors surrounding Higbee this offseason, but if they had to choose between him and Parkinson, they would probably release or trade Parkinson.

Breaking: Former Seahawk Colby Parkinson Could Be In “Danger” Of Trade – 4 Potential Destinations
Best Possible Fits
Baltimore Ravens
Since the Baltimore Ravens will lose Isaiah Likely for a few games, the team should be on the hunt for another possible tight end option. Veteran Mark Andrews is one of the greatest pass-catchers, but even the best need help, and that was shown in their playoff loss against the Buffalo Bills. Parkinson isn’t going to start and probably will never be a TE2 behind Likely, but the Ravens never fail to bring out the best in their targets. Lamar Jackson has an arm, and even if Parkinson can pounce through the blocks and get open for a short pass, this might be enough to move the chains.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile, it wouldn’t hurt to add another tight end for the Los Angeles Chargers. After signing Tyler Conklin to give some backup to Will Dissly, Parkinson could find his role to rotate the snaps. If Jim Harbaugh wants to run the football often, it’s better to get all of the big guys to create those easy situations for Najee Harris and 2025 draft pick Omarion Hampton.
Dallas Cowboys
However, the Dallas Cowboys extended Jake Ferguson this offseason despite rumors that he was on the hot seat. Ferguson is safe for now, but the same can’t be said about Luke Schoonmaker and John Stephens. Parkinson could be another versatile big body that could create separation in the aerial attack for Dak Prescott to find the open man in play-action situations.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are building an old-school roster to maximize Jayden Daniels’ rookie contract. However, even that could falter when you only have Zach Ertz, who can consistently catch the football as a tight end. John Bates is only reliable in run block situations, so it’s better to invest in another guy like Parkinson just for depth.
