The latest MRI results are in for Washington Football Team quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and it’s not good news.
Fitzpatrick left Washington’s Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in the second quarter. He went to the ground in pain after taking a hit from Chargers linebacker Uchenna Nwosu.
The initial belief was that Fitzpatrick suffered a hip subluxation. The veteran quarterback then underwent an MRI on Monday to confirm such news. Fitzpatrick did indeed suffer a hip subluxation, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Washington will now place Fitzpatrick on the injured reserve. He’ll be there for a minimum of three weeks, though it could end up being longer. It’s unclear how long Washington will be without its starting quarterback.
Washington Football Team QB Ryan Fitzpatrick did suffer a hip subluxation, the MRI confirmed. He’ll be placed on Injured Reserve, source said, but no indication yet that it’s season ending.

This is just a brutal blow for Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’s spent his entire professional career waiting for an opportunity to be a team’s full-time starter. Washington gave him such an opportunity, but it ended in disaster on Sunday.
We wish Fitzpatrick all the best in his recovery, which could be as little as three weeks or span out to a few months.
Washington, meanwhile, will move forward Taylor Heinicke. He completed 11 of his 15 pass attempts for 122 yards and one score in a loss to the Chargers. WFT feels confident in either Heinicke or Kyle Allen at the moment.
Washington will try and win its first game of the season this Thursday against the New York Giants.
