Brock Lesnar Shuts Down Comeback: UFC World Reacts

March 7, 2022 by The Spun

Brock Lesnar walking into the Octagon.

Brock Lesnar has been one of the most popular athletes in all of combat sports for the better part of 20 years. But he has no intentions of returning to The UFC Octagon – ever.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Lesnar declared that the door is closed on a return to UFC. He thanked UFC president Dana White and former UFC co-owners, the Fertitta brothers, for being so great to him.

“That door is closed,” Lesnar said. “You know what, Dana White, the Fertitta brothers [Lorenzo and Frank] were exceptional to me.”

Lesnar said that he’s too old to compete in UFC now. He called it “a young man’s sport” and declared that he’s a WWE Superstar.

“I’m too old,” Lesnar said. “That’s a young man’s sport, and that door is closed. I’m Brock Lesnar, the WWE Superstar.”

UFC fans aren’t shedding any tears for Lesnar announcing he’s done with their sport. Many are highly critical of Lesnar’s attitude, lack of skill and performance-enhancing drug usage:

… because everyone knows that I had zero experience with any type of real martial arts….and I really didn’t like getting hit in the face, body of legs.

He never was a MMA fighter, to afraid of getting hurt.

Good. He did mark hunt wrong by being juiced up on his last fight. Don’t want to see Lesnar fight again in UFC

Francis would KO him so this is the correct thing for him to do.

Brock Lesnar’s current stint with WWE has run since 2012 though he did return in 2016 for a fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200. He won that fight but later had his victory overturned after failing a drug test.

Lesnar made his UFC debut in 2008, losing to Frank Mir. But between 2008 and 2010, he reeled off four straight wins and won the UFC heavyweight championship. He held the belt for three months before losing it to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121.

The following year he lost to Alistair Overeem and left UFC soon after.
