Hogs Haven takes a look at 2025 NFL Draft prospects that could contribute to the Commanders

Jake Majors, C
School: Texas | Conference: SEC
College Experience: Senior | Draft Age: 23
Height / Weight: 6’3”/ 303 lbs
Projected Draft Status: 5th-UDFA round

Player Comparison: Zach Tom

Player Overview

Jake Majors was a dominating high school player in his native Prosper, Texas. He was an all-district, all-state, and All-American offensive lineman that was a four-star prospect. There were offers to play at several schools, but Majors couldn’t turn down the offer to stay home and play for the Longhorns. It took little time for him to get on the field. Majors started the season finale and bowl game in 2020 at center as a true freshman, opening holes for Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. The center position was Majors from this point on. Majors holds the program record with 56 starts, earning Big 12 honorable mention in 2023 and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 Selection.

Strengths

  • High IQ player; made calls for Longhorns
  • Plus athleticism to pull and eliminate defenders in space
  • Quick, accurate hands help maintain blocks
  • Plays with good leverage and base to control larger defenders

Weaknesses

  • Small stature can be pushed around by powerful DTs
  • Short arms allow defenders to get into his body
  • Can struggle generating movement in run game

Let’s See His Work

How Will He Fit On The Team

The Commanders appear to have their starters along the offensive line for next season with Laremy Tunsil, Nick Allegretti, Tyler Biadasz, Brandon Coleman, and Andrew Wylie. As far as depth goes, specifically at center, they re-signed Michael Deiter who underwhelmed last season when Biadasz was hurt, and added Nate Herbig in free agency The team could look to the draft for a way to get better, cheaper, and younger depth.

Jake Majors has qualities that make him a desirable developmental player. He has played a lot of football, demonstrating great athleticism, technique, and mental acuity for the position. These things helped Texas maintain success whether Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning was under center. He is a smaller player and although that helps him create leverage, it also means he can get pushed around. As a late round pick or an UDFA signed by the Commanders, Majors could work on getting stronger and adding mass. If he doesn’t beat out Deiter and Herbig immediately, he could become the primary backup at center after his first season with the possibility of becoming the starter when Biadasz’s contract ends.
