The Washington Capitals are facing the Los Angeles Kings to round out their four game road trip, which included three games in California. This game comes on the heels of a whomping 8-3 win over the San Jose Sharks. The Caps had three young defenders all register at least a point in the game, which is very impressive. Alex Ovechkin scored two goals bringing his career number up to 815.
The Goaltender comparison between the two teams is pretty equal. The combined records for the goaltenders reads as Caps 31-27-6. The Kings goaltenders reads as 36-18-1. Darcy Kuemper has a better goals against average, as well as save percentage. Kuempers goals against is 2.77 a game while Korpisalo is at 3.13 a game.
The Caps are looking to build off of an offensive slaughter of San Jose, in which they got everyone involved in the offensive scheme. The puck movement in the offensive zone, as well as the ability to draw defenders away to free up shooting lanes was one of the best from the Caps all season. The Caps were also able to go 1-3 on the power play, which has slowly started to look better. The Caps also won 36 faceoffs, compared to San Jose’s 23. That was an area of struggle for most of the season, so it is nice to see that the team has worked and improved upon that.
