Big players like the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be right in the thick of the race to land talented free agent shortstop Carlos Correa. However, don’t count out the Chicago Cubs. Per Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Cubs are “among the favorites” to sign Correa.
“Perhaps most intriguingly, the Chicago Cubs are poised to play a major role in the courtship of Correa as the baseball industry bursts back to life,” Morosi writes, via MLB.com.
“The Cubs were among the teams that had the heaviest dialogue with Correa’s camp in the hours before the lockout began in early December, and there is every reason to believe those conversations will resume.”
