With only one year remaining on Tyreek Hill’s contract, the Kansas City Chiefs will be working hard this offseason to sign the All-Pro wide receiver to an extension.
According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, the current rumor at the NFL Combine is that Kansas City will give Hill a “hefty” raise this offseason.
“If the Chiefs have their way, Hill will be in Kansas City for a long time to come,” Pauline wrote. “Rumor at the 2022 NFL Combine has the Chiefs trying to ink Hill to an extension that will give him a hefty increase.”
Hill is set to play on the final year of a three-year, $54 million contract. He should make well over $20 million per season when he signs his next deal.
Most fans aren’t surprised the Chiefs want to keep Hill around for the long haul. It also shows that Kansas City’s front office has no trouble working around the salary cap.
“Proves cap doesn’t exist,” one fan said in response to Pauline’s report.

“He’s worth it,” another fan said. “He’s the kind of WR that instantly helps any QB.”
He’s worth it. He’s the kind of WR (as a player) I want on my offense. Instantly helps any QB. https://t.co/8M7RFBjOYn

Hill finished the 2021 season with 111 receptions for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns.
It’s possible that Hill could reset the market for wide receivers this offseason.
