If you were to ask anyone who followed the Washington Commanders last season where they needed to upgrade the roster, they likely would’ve told you at offensive tackle. Washington’s tackle play last season wasn’t good. Former left tackle Charles Leno wasn’t as bad as some would tell you, but the Commanders did need to upgrade.
Washington signed Andrew Wylie to play right tackle last season, and he struggled badly at times. The Commanders brought back Wylie and didn’t bring in anyone to push him. He’s the right tackle.
General manager Adam Peters brought in only one player from outside the organization at tackle: Rookie Brandon Coleman. It remains to be soon if Peters’ confidence in the third-round rookie will pay immediate dividends.
