It’s not often that the Washington Commanders are favored. It’s certainly even less often when Washington is a double-digit favorite or close to one. We’d have to search long and hard to find out when that happened last. But for Washington’s Week 10 home game against the New York Giants, the Commanders open as a 9.5-point favorite, according to BetMGM.
Interestingly enough, these old rivals met just last month, with the Giants upsetting the Commanders 14-7. It was after that game that fans gave up on any possibility of believing the 2023 Commanders were a playoff team.
The Giants are much different now than they were even one month ago. Starting quarterback Daniel Jones missed that game with a neck injury. He since returned but tore his ACL and is lost for the season. Tyrod Taylor, who started in Week 7, leading the Giants to the win, is now on injured reserve. Taylor’s injury isn’t season-ending, but he is out until at least Week 13.
That means Washington’s red-hot quarterback, Sam Howell, along with its struggling defense, will likely face undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito.
