Another day, another mock draft with two promising additions for the Washington Commanders. In a new seven-round mock draft from Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports, Washington adds help at corner, wide receiver and linebacker with its first three picks.
At No. 11 overall, Wilson has LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. landing with the Commanders:
Stingley didn’t work out at the combine but lit it up at his pro day. He only played three games in ’21, but it’s hard to forget just how dominant he was in ’19 as a freshman, where he spent practices going up against Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Terrace Marshall and Racey McMath. If he was eligible two years ago he would’ve been a top-5 pick. He remains a ball hawk, not to mention an asset in the return game, and he’ll only last this long because hasn’t played a lot of football in the last 12 months.
You can argue about how much Washington needs a cornerback, but Stingley is an elite talent. Are there concerns? Sure. But a healthy Stingley can quickly become one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks early in his career.
Wilson gives the Commanders a wide receiver in the second round, with George Pickens of Georgia falling to No. 47. Pickens is an excellent pick in the second round. At 6-foot-3, Pickens is a big wideout, giving Washington something different from Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown.

Beavers would be a smart gamble in round four, however, he doesn’t possess the athleticism the Commanders desire from a Mike linebacker. Zappe is a record-setting college passer who would be a developmental project for Washington behind Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke.
