Chase Roullier was activated Thursday from the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List.
Roullier (No. 73) has been rehabbing and recovering this offseason from his fractured fibula suffered in Week 8 of the 2021 season at Denver. The play was seemingly concluded when suddenly, Roullier was rolled up under breaking his lower leg.
Entering his 6th season, Roullier has been very steady and was missed last year when he was out for the final nine games of the season. He required an air cast, surgery, and several months of rehab following the injury against the Broncos.
The Commanders’ offensive line was a strength last season. However, this season they will need to replace both of their starting guards. Brandon Scherff signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ereck Flowers was released by Washington and surprisingly has yet to sign with another team. The return of Roulllier is very much needed for the stabilization of the middle of the line, which will certainly need the experience and production that Roullier has provided in the past.
The former Wyoming Cowboy was drafted by Washington in the 6th round (199 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Incidentally, Tom Brady was also a 199th overall selection in an NFL draft (New England 2000).
